At a Court held for the County of Southampton the 8th day of December 1785 This Will was presented in Court by Burwell Westbrook, one of the Executors therein named (the other being dead) and proved by the oath of Arthur Foster, Henry Collier Foster, witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of the said Executor who made oath according to law, certificate is granted him for obtaining a Probat thereof in due form giving Security Whereupon etc. In the /left margin: John Westbrook Will In the name of God Amen. I John Westbrook of Southampton County being weak and sick in body but of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner andform following: First & foremost I recommend my soul to Almighty God who gave it and as to my worldly goods I dispose of in the following manner Item I lend unto my beloved wife Lucy Westbrook all my land and two Negroes, namely Silah and Jane for and during our natural life together with all their future increase.
